External characteristics
The body length of female adult turtles typically ranges from 60 to 80 centimeters, while larger males may reach lengths of up to one meter, with the largest potentially weighing up to 210 kilograms and measuring 1.7 meters. The carapace is characterized by irregular yellowish brown stripes, while the body is characterized by a dark brown to reddish brown hue. The adult Hawksbill sea turtle exhibits more pronounced variations between males and females, with the male being more vividly colored than the female. The male Hawksbill sea turtle is characterized by a concave carapace, elongated claws and a robust tail, while the female has a flat carapace, short claws and a short tail.
Living habits
It can be found in several areas of Taiwan, including Xiangshan in Hsinchu, Shengang in Changhua, Buzi Creek in Dongshi, Chiayi, and the Zengwen River estuary in Tainan.
